Welcome to my studio.

I’m originally from the USA, born in Detroit in 1980 and raised in Florida from 1983. In 1990 I started training in the Uechi Ryu style of Karate under the late Master Frank Gorman which fostered my interest in Japan and I have been working in Japan since 2005.

I’ve always been a fan and creator of music with a strong love for punk and Motown. As a studio engineer, my musical horizons have been expanded as I have the greatest pleasure to work with artists from many different countries, cultures and styles of music.

Goodman Recordings, Tokyo provides access to studio grade recording and mixing equipment along with my ear for what sounds good. Whether you live in Japan and are looking for English recording/mixing services, or want to record your next release while on tour in Japan, contact me today to set up a date or make any inquiry.

FAQ
Q1Do you accept PayPal, Venmo, or Stripe?
A1For overseas clients, we can accept either PayPal or bank transfer. For clients in Japan, you can pay in cash at the studio, bank transfer, PayPal or PayPay.
Q2I want to send some tracks for processing. How quickly is your turn around?
A2For analog bus compression, under 24 hours. For mixing, it could be from a day to week depending on the size of the project and my schedule. For digital mastering, 2 days.
Q3Can you record my tour in Japan?
A3I’m sorry, I can only record at the studio now.
Q4Do I need to bring any instruments?
A4The studio will provide free rental of Fender American Professional II line Jazzmaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass. Other quality higher end instruments can rented for a small fee. Stratocaster, Telecaster, Gretsch, Jaguar, Mustang Bass, Precision and Jazz basses with flat wound strings, etc are available for rent.
Q5How do you make drums?
A5In Japan, the quality of perfect sounding sample drums are in high demand. Goodman Recordings uses Superior Drummer 3. Samples can be played though a midi controller, or triggered from your own recording.

We can also record your kit in the sound booth, although space limitations will require the separate dubs with different pieces in the booth.
Q6How far is your studio from the station?
A6Just 1 minute from the nearest station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. 13 minutes from JR Sobu Line.
